Women's grievance redressed Committee under the College

According to a circular on dated 23rd May, 2002 from the Government and the University, the grievance Redressed Committee should be constituted to prevent the sexual harassment of women employees of the educational institutes. As per the order, such Vishakha Committee has been established in the college from the academic session 2012-2013. In case of sexual abuse of female staff and students in college premises, victim or woman should complain to Vishakha Committee.

Policies of the Women’s grievance redress committee
  • Vishakha Samiti does a significant job of pressuring the society in favor of women by preventing various crimes related to violence against women.
  • The crimes committed against women are as follows: Having sexual relations anddisobedience.
  • Demand or solicitation of physical relations.
  • Showing symbols of body connection.
  • Pornography
  • Verbal and nonverbal behave or demanding physical happiness.
  • Girls teasing women, telling obscene jokes, insulting by saying sex discrimination,physically assaulting.
  • To make Dirty, obscene phone calls, SMS, mail etc.
  • Touching the body of women and girls, making vulgar gestures.
  • Forcibly touching the body and exploitations
  • Discussing her personal affairs, talking about the her bodily parts

Vision : To Sustain Empowerment of women and ensures for safe and secured conducive environment by practicing softly peace and justice.

Mission : To create establish and practice gender oriented strategy and activities for the promotion of gender equality and security in instructional environment by making appropriate efforts and implement various programs, scheme and projects.

The Objective of the committee is:
  • Prevent discrimination and sexual harassment against women by promoting gender amity among students and employees.
  • Make recommendations to the director for changes elaborations in the rules for students in the prospectus and bye- laws, to make them gender just and to lay down proceeded for the prohibition, resolution, settlement and prosecution of acts of discrimination and sexual harassment against women by the students and the employers.
  • Deal with cases of discrimination and sexual harassment against women, in a time bound manner, aiming at ensuring supports services to the victimized and termination of the harassment.
  • Recommend appropriate punitive action against the guilty party to the director.
Function & Responsibility of Committee:
  • To received compliant and taking appropriate initiative by studying and analysis facts or case history.
  • The committee will take the said of both parties personally and commonly as required.
  • The committee is responsible to sought out the problem impartially.
  • The committee will prepare report and submit to college and university
  • The committee or Institution is bound to create & established completely safe, secure and proactive atmosphere.
  • The committee is responsible to orient every element a premises regarding the working of vishakha committee.
  • The committee is responsible to displays every information on notice board or in common place regarding rules, disciplines and provision.
  • No sexual harassment is the Zonal policy of Institution. The committees work it for the fulfillment of institution policy.
  • To lead the matter through legal glance and sought out.

Under Visakha Vigilance Committee, one-day workshop on "Women Empowerment" was organized at Dr. Ambedkar College of Social Work, Wardha on 05/09/2014. The Advocate Smita Kamble was present as the chief guest of the event.She said that in her guidance that the position of women in Indian culture is very low today. Due to the weak mentality of the generations, oppression can be seen increasing. In every country on earth, there are huge incidents of exploitation against women recorded it. India is the third largest country in the exploitation of women, a documentary highlighting the atrocities committed against women, ways to eliminate oppression, etc., has been shown on this occasion.

Since there was not a single case found against the Women's grievance redress Committee on this occasion hence Attendees expressed satisfaction with the hope that the society was improving.

Session 2016-17

Under the Women's Studies Service Center and Vishakha Samiti, the program was organized on 14/09/2016 with the theme "Women's Rights and Laws".The major inaugural ad for the program were advocate Archana Wankhede and Mrs. Sangita Ingle as Chief Guest (Rotary Club Member Gandhi City, Wardha.).

While describing his experience and studies, Advocate Archana Wankhede briefly described the pressure on women in the society. No matter how well educated and developed a society may be, it will not keep women from being fearless.Instead, she cited various incidents around her in order to be thoughtful and alert.

On dated 29/12/2016, a program was organized on the topic of women's entry into politics and women's empowerment.The major inaugural of this program’s were Mrs. Sunita Ithape (Formal mayor) and Dr. Vidya Kalsait (Pipari Panchayat Samiti member). In her guided speech, spoke about his experiences of politics as well as examples of women in politics.She also expressed concern that the position of women in various fields of employment was vacant despite the majority of women educated in the country. For increase the reservation of women, increase the educational status of women and social initiatives in politics. Dr. Vidyatai Kalsait in her guided speech Referring and emphasized that the upliftment of women was needed at the village level and also she Illustrated that backward women are not treated with respect. There should be a Counseling Center for women run by women.While giving various certificates, she convinced that there was still a need for community upliftment.

According to the Vishakha guidelines, the prohibition and prevention of sexual harassment of women in the workplace has been created to raise awareness of the Act, 2013 was organized one-day workshop on Monday 27/02/2017.The chief Guest of the programs was AdvocateArchana Wankhede, Wardha. Dr.  Vijay Vittankar, Prof. B.  N.  Khedkar, Vishakha Committee Chairman Dr. Sunita D.  Bhoikar, Principal Dr. Milind Sawai.Were attended the programs.

The prevalence of violence against women in the society is increasing day by day. Also, sexual abuse of women in the workplace appears to be rampant. For that matter, the Women need to be vigilant and alert. The main guests of the program was described the pressure they put on women while living in the community, sharing their lawyer's professional experiences and cases. Therefore, no matter how well educated and developed society may be, these women need to be fearless and alert to raise the ideological level and lead over the oppression. She explained the provisions of the Sexual Harassment, Protection and Prevention of Women Act, 2013 Act in the workplace. In case of sexual assault against women in the workplace and in the society, the she provided detailed guidance on who and what to look for, how and where to look. No case was reported in this session.

Dr.Ambedkar College of Social Work, Wardha, is a pioneer in organizing various social programs under the Women's Studies Service Center and Vishakha Samiti.The event was organized on dated 14/08/2017. The chief guest of the event was respected Mr. Krishnanath Panchal (IAS) (Assistant Collector, Wardha), Dr. K. P.  Nimbalkar (Head of Psychology Department,Yashwant College Wardha) and the Principal, Dr.  Milind Sawai was presided over the program.In the preface of the program, acknowledged the information and importance of Vishakha Committee and later guiding principle of Vishakha Committee were explained.

The program was organized on the topic "Women's Empowerment and Role of Youth" on 20/09 / 2017. The chief guest of the event was respected Mr. Sanjay Mate (Nehru Yuva Kendra District Coordinator) and the Principal Dr. Milind Sawai was attend the program. Developing Women and Implementing Plans for Youth. He urged to the youth that to take active participation in women's maximizing activities.Due to the traditional customs of society, women were always scrupulous and lonely. Hence the educational progress of women could not be achieved. If women take the initiative through those social customs, then women can progress faster if there is social acceptance of the youth of the men.This predicted done by the guest.

There was no case before the Women grievance redressed Committee during this session.

Under the Department of Libraries on dated 03/01/2011 was organized a seminar on the occasion of birth anniversary of Savitribai Phule, The social reformer. The Principal of the college, Dr. Milind Sawai, who is presided over the program and the keynote speakers were Mrs. Suman Tirpude, The Women Special Assistance cell and Mrs. Rekha Kale, the Damini squad Chief Police Deputy Inspector. In her guided speech she said that the Savitribai did a great job of teaching and opening the first school for girls and women in Pune with the help of Jotiba fule and she also prevent Child widow marriage and taking a bathing council to stop the widows' hair loss. Savitribai also took over the work of the Satyashodhak community by establishing the first child suicide prevention house in Maharashtra. "Due to the academic work of Savitribai Phule, today I am working as Deputy Inspector of Police," said Deputy Superintendent Kale Madam.

Respected Mrs. Rekha Kale communicated with the students by giving information about Damini squad and provided guidance regarding squad. Dr.  Milind Sawai tried his best to convey the important of education of Savitribai Phule from house to house under adverse circumstances. He also said that a social scandal has been launched against the evil practices. Meanwhile, during the program, a district level inter-college written quiz competition was organized based on the life character of Savitribai Phule.

The complainant was student of our college and was learning MSW- IVth Sememster. A girl student was being harassed by pornographic messages and intimidation on a message from Sanjay Kolje, and was constantly harassed her message from Facebook, WhatsApp, calls etc. She submitted such complain in writing to the college. She expressed her opinion before the committee. On being asked to do so, she has lodged a number of shocking things and she later submitted same complain to Ramnagar Police Station. Police called Sanjay Kolje by phone and some students of our colleges. Accordingly, a decision was taken by the Vishakha Committee to take action in this matter through the police administration. The matter is to be submitted to the police administration with this report.
